About the Event
This event offers an exploration of legacy giving and its vital role in nonprofit sustainability. Attendees will gain valuable insights into what legacy giving entails, its significance in U.S. philanthropy, and current trends and demographics shaping legacy donors.
The program will support participants in the components of building a successful legacy program, covering essential topics such as gift acceptance policies, marketing strategies, donor documentation, and the integration of legacy giving with campaigns and endowments.
Stewardship strategies will also be highlighted, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and engaging legacy donors through tools like Legacy Societies, tailored communications, and special events.
The session will conclude with an overview of MCF services, showcasing their expertise in handling complex legacy gifts, charitable gift annuities (CGAs), and endowments, empowering organizations to navigate the intricacies of legacy giving confidently.

Speakers
David serves as Vice President of Donor Engagement at the Madison Community Foundation, leading their donor and philanthropic services team, working with individuals, families, nonprofit organizations, businesses and their professional advisors to meet current and future goals through philanthropy. He brings 25 years of experience serving donors and previously held leadership roles with Madison College Foundation, Agrace HospiceCare Foundation and the International Crane Foundation. He began his career in fundraising with The Nature Conservancy. David is a graduate of UW-Madison and earned his Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designation in 2022. He has two grown daughters and lives in Madison with his wife, Elizabeth, where they can be found riding bikes or running on trails.
Camille Zanoni is the Director of Donor & Giving Partner Engagement with Madison Community Foundation and has served in the non-profit sector for over twenty years working on major donor fundraising, endowment building, and legacy giving. Before joining the Madison Community Foundation, Camille served as director of philanthropy for the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin, vice-president of advancement for the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, friends group coordinator with the Department of Natural Resources and executive director to the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks. She has spent time living or working in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, including serving with the Peace Corps. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Aspects of Conservation from the UW-Madison along with a certificate in Environmental Studies. She lives in Madison, and enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family and volunteering in the schools and community.
