Director of Development
Salary Range: $90,700-$117,000
Job Summary:
The Director of Development is responsible for leading and implementing the organization’s fundraising strategy, managing the development team, and driving advocacy and awareness of the organization’s mission, need, and deliverables to expand Olbrich’s impact and organizational growth.
The Director of Development will build on Olbrich’s strengths and create a more vibrant and sustainable public asset by working with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and development team to grow and sustain a high-quality, effective development program.
This is an exciting, pivotal moment for the Botanical Society and an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate, as Olbrich is beginning a comprehensive master planning process to guide the next 20 years of operating and capital needs, including large-scale capital campaigns.
In the past 10 years, OBS has experienced rapid growth, with its operating budget growing 161% and development and membership helping to lead that growth. The new Director of Development will inherit a stable program (65% donor retention rate, 84% member retention rate w/ 96.7% satisfaction rating) primed for growth.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this role has four full-time direct reports: a Major Gifts Officer, Donor Engagement & Grants Manager, Membership & Development Associate, and Membership & Development Assistant.
OBS has made significant investments in the development team, adding two new full-time positions to the department in the last 12 months, and recently completed an organization-wide consolidation of databases to integrate development, membership, volunteers, ticketing, and classes.
