Recognizing the passing of Don Gray, Greater Madison fundraising legend

Many colleagues had the pleasure of working with Don through the Foundation and through his teaching at the UW Fundraising Conference. Don was a brilliant and thoughtful person who was a joy to work with. AFP Greater Madison was honored to share in a part of Don's career when we recognized him as the Outstanding Fundraising Professional at National Philanthropy Day in 2006.

"Don Gray was a legend and someone I deeply admired. I remember seeing his keynote at the UW Fundraising Conference shortly after I began my career in fundraising. His approach to fundraising was deeply relationship-based, but his relationships were not just with his donors. He believed in sharing his experiences, wisdom, and success with our community of fundraisers. He knew that supporting each other and learning from one another was paramount to being a fundraiser. We are better when we are stronger, together."

Beth Larson, AFP Greater Madison Board Chair

We will miss Don's smile and kindness in our fundraising community.
