What does AFP Greater Madison look like in 2020 and beyond?

We are right there with all of our nonprofit colleagues as we navigate this new space. The shifting needs of our members and continuing to be a resource to our community remain our top priority. Our Chapter has consistently relied on monthly in-person meetings and small group discussions to meet the needs of our local development community. One of our key components to all of the professional development opportunities is the chance to network with each other, something that can be very difficult in a virtual world. As we look at the rest of 2020, the board and committee members will continue to seek opportunities for us to come together, network, gain professional development, and support one another through all of this.

Check out a few updates on some of the major programs including Fundraising Day Wisconsin and National Philanthropy Day.

Fundraising Day Wisconsin

The possibility of hosting an in-person full-day event with 350+ of our closest friends seems to be beyond our reach right now. While we are disappointed that we won’t be able to see you all in person for networking and professional development, we still want to bring national speakers to our backyard. The FDW committee is coordinating efforts for a small online virtual experience which will give you the opportunity to move your fundraising programs forward and the chance to talk through ideas with your local colleagues. Stay tuned for more details!

National Philanthropy Day

At this time, we do not anticipate being able to gather in the lobby of the Overture Center to celebrate the accomplishments of the award winners. Each year we host this event and the magnitude of the celebration feels like it is too much for just one lunch. Lucky for us, 2020 will give us the opportunity to celebrate in a different way. The National Philanthropy Day Committee has announced the release of the 2020 NPD nominations. Award winners will be recognized through media outlets, online video engagement, and other creative ways. We know that philanthropy is playing a vital role in our community, as it always has, and there is no better time to celebrate all that is being done. Nomination categories are open and ready for you to honor someone today!

Monthly Chapter Programs

We would give anything to break bread with you and see your smiling faces in person. Instead of being together, we will be continuing to offer programs online that give you access to local ideas and ways to keep your fundraising programs going. Chapter programs will continue to be held on the third Tuesday of the month with complimentary registration.

Roundtable Discussions

Roundtable virtual discussions, yes! Roundtables have been offered for the past few years and you will see these discussions more often throughout 2020. If you have a topic that you would like to see featured, email your Professional Development Co-Chairs, David Mossner (david.mossner@oakwoodvillage.net) and Mindy Petersen (mindy.petersen@supportuw.org).

The AFP Greater Madison Board of Directors and Committees will continuously monitor the situation and as soon as it is safe to bring us all together we will. Please consider sharing your ideas for topics and let us know how we can help you through 2020 and beyond.
