AFP is more than a professional association, it is an important cause for our community. I joined AFP Greater Madison for professional development and to make connections with others in the field of fundraising. Having an industry association membership on your resume says you are committed to your profession and actively participating in its advancement. Whether you are interested in career development, strengthening your network, or just looking for a few new friends, joining an AFP committee could be a great option for you. There are four committees currently looking for new members which include National Philanthropy Day, Fundraising Day Wisconsin, Membership, and Communications. 4. Make a new friend: Use professional networking groups as an opportunity to meet new people. In addition to professional development and knowledge sharing, AFP hosts member socials and small group discussions. So whichever format you are most comfortable in, there is one for you!
Stay inspired and stay motivated: Love what you do and learn to love what others do in our community too! You may not even know that you are passionate about something until you learn about it from another member. I’ve discovered new causes I care about through the friends I’ve made in AFP. Their love for what they do and their passion for advancing the profession of fundraising and their cause inspires me.
