Public Relations and Content Manager

Job Summary:

The Public Relations and Content Manager is part of a team of communications, annual giving, marketing, and public relations professionals charged with creating and executing proactive plans that increase public awareness of the Wisconsin Historical Society and grow contributed and earned revenue to support the Society’s mission and help us become a nationally recognized organization.

The Public Relations and Content Manager is a storyteller who crafts strategic, compelling, results-driven messaging that supports our organizational mission, enhances and protects our reputation and amplifies our brand locally, regionally and nationally. This role works closely with both internal clients and members of the marketing/communications team to tell the Wisconsin Historical Society story across multiple platforms. Major functions of the role include developing strategic media relationships and outreach across all key markets and successfully pitching stories that deliver on annual goals. Other responsibilities include media training, execution of crisis communication plans, thought leadership positioning and public affairs initiatives, and serving as a spokesperson as necessary. The position also requires a strategist experienced in content development and management, including drafting project-based content plans to support a variety of integrated marketing communications initiatives. The Public Relations and Content Manager is a supervisory position with direct report(s).
