Marketing & Communication Specialist

Job Summary:

This position is 20 hrs/week with the ability for some remote work. The Marketing & Communication
Specialist will collaborate with the Development team in the planning, development and implementation
of marketing and communications efforts. This role will focus predominantly on quarterly newsletters, annual reports, donor
communications, social media posts, website articles & year-end appeals. The M&C specialist reports to
the Development Director.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
● Work with the Development Director to create content and provide editing for organization-wide
marketing efforts, including social media, website, annual report, internal and external
newsletters, email marketing, and print collateral.
o Assist in development of Safe Harbor’s marketing & communications strategy
● Oversight of Safe Harbor’s social media platforms and implementation of new and creative social
media strategies to improve the agency’s reputation and recognition.
● Work with program staff to capture stories that highlight and bring awareness to Safe Harbor’s
work
● Work with the DD to produce fundraising appeals, quarterly newsletters, targeted mailings and
social media posts/campaigns
● Respond to and assist staff with marketing needs
● Monitor metrics and make recommendations to improve stakeholder engagement
● Keep abreast of best practices, trends, tools & techniques related to marketing
● Event Marketing & Communication
o Collaborate on all marketing efforts for fundraising and agency-wide events
o Develop marketing timelines for events
o Work closely with DD to support overall event logistics

Qualifications
● 1-3 years of related work experience (marketing, social media/website management,
communications, journalism)
● Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational & project management
skills
● Desire to work in the nonprofit sector, with a strong commitment to social justice and to
communicating the work and mission of Safe Harbor to the public and our supporters.
● Graphic design skills preferred
● Experience in non-profit environment/fundraising preferred
Salary and benefits: 20 hours per week, $21-24/hour ($45,ooo-$49,000 FTE). Benefits eligible on a
prorated basis.
