Position Description:             Grant Writer and Prospect Researcher

Reports to:                             CEO of Madison College Foundation

Position Type:                        Full-Time exempt with some travel and evening & weekend work

 

 

Summary: We are looking for an experienced individual to join our fundraising team as a Grant Writer and Prospect Researcher. In addition to researching and writing grant proposals on behalf of our non-profit organization, you will maintain a grants calendar to monitor the application process and keep track of various deadlines. You should feel comfortable reaching out to institutional partners, and current and potential donors. Our ideal candidate is someone who will be able to enthusiastically help our organization identify and obtain significant gifts to serve the students of Madison College. You will also be responsible for conducting research on individuals, private businesses, public corporations, philanthropic foundations and integrating data gathered from various public and published sources into a system for retrieval and analysis.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (Grant Writer)

  • Research, prepare, and submit proposals for funding
  • Manage grant Letters of Intent (LOIs)
  • Act as the Principal Investigator (PI) when appropriate
  • Follow all requirements and deadlines for grant applications
  • Maintain a grant calendar to monitor progress
  • Communicate with potential donors and institutional donors
  • Identify new funding opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (Prospect Researcher)

  • Provide in-depth research to identify new prospective donors
  • Create profiles and update records
  • Maintain prospect research fields in our database
  • Prepare prospect reports for development team
  • Analyze wealth in a confidential way
  • Track research findings in our database

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Exceptional research skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience in grant or proposal writing
  • Computer proficiency
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience with non-profit fundraising a plus
